sitcom3.jpgRumours are flying around Hollywood that paparazzi favourites Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are in talks to star in a sitcom together.

US TV network HBO, which brought us Sex and the City, are reportedly keen to sign up the blonde trio to appear as flatmates struggling to make it big in Hollywood.

Show chiefs are said to have approached Extras star Ricky Gervais and Desperate Housewives creator Mark Cherry to pen the script, which would see the trio playing characters inspired by themselves.

This could be interesting! The trio were close friends in 2006 and were often seen out on the party scene together. However, the girls grew apart in 2007 due to their personal crisis’ - drug and alcohol addiction for Lindsay, prison for Paris and a psychiatric ward for Britney.

Nevertheless, now that Lindsay has fallen in love, Paris is sober and Britney finally has her head in the right place, the timing couldn’t be better.

If the sitcom goes ahead then it certainly would make for entertaining viewing. And who cares if it’s not real? If millions of people can sit through ‘reality’ show The Hills each and every week then I’m sure this sitcom will be a huge hit.

What do you guys think? Will you be tuning in?

Britney Spears to host US TV sketch show ‘Saturday Night Live’

Posted by audioman On October - 31 - 2008

The singer – who is releasing her new album ‘Circus’ on December 2 – will present the sketch show for the third time on November 22, gossip website Celebuzz.com has claimed.

Britney – who broke records for being the youngest person in history to host and perform when she appeared on ‘Saturday Night Live’ eight years ago aged 18, and also hosted the programme in 2002 – is hoping a role on the hit series will help secure her comeback.

A source said: “Britney is in final talks to appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’ on November 22. She is really nervous about it, but thinks it will finally convince people she has put her troubled past behind her and has the ability to laugh at herself.”

Britney may also perform a track from her new record on the show.

The decision follows Britney’s successful performance on US TV sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’ earlier this year.

Critics praised the 26-year-old star for her comic timing, and ratings of the series were boosted so much that Britney was invited onto a second episode.

Michael Jackson Opts Out of Jackson 5 Reunion

Posted by audioman On October - 31 - 2008

A reunion of the Jackson 5 is not quite as easy as “ABC.” Michael Jackson denied on Thursday that he would take part in a reunion of the famed Motown singing group, a day after elder brother Jermaine said the faded pop star was on board.

“My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we’ve certainly shared many great experiences, but at this time I have no plans to record or tour with them,” the self-proclaimed “king of pop” said a statement.

Jackson, 50, said he was in the studio working on “new and exciting projects.”

But Jermaine Jackson, 53, said in Australia on Wednesday that the clan was working on the music and logistics for a tour next year.

“It is going to be more like a family affair,” he was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press. “(Younger sister) Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family. … We’re in the studio, we’re planning on being out there next year.”

Michael Jackson has not encouraged reunion talk. He did not show up with his brothers to collect a lifetime achievement award in Los Angeles in September.

The Jackson 5, whose lineup is rounded out by Jackie, 57, Tito, 55, and Marlon, 51, as well as unofficial member Randy, 47, rose to fame in the early 1970s with such singles as “I Want You Back,” “ABC” and “I’ll Be There.” The group last toured in 1984, by which time Michael Jackson was a huge star in his own right.

His statement was credited to a spokesperson dubbed “Dr. Tohme.” The publicity firm that distributed the statement declined to elaborate on the person’s identity.

‘Gavin and Stacey’ Actors to Host Brit Awards

Posted by audioman On October - 30 - 2008

‘Gavin and Stacey’ actors James Corden and Mathew Horne have been lined up to host next year’s BRIT Awards.

The British comedy stars are set to present the biggest event in the UK music calendar, which will take place in February at Earl’s Court in London.

A source said: “The pair should do a great job. James is good friends with Lily Allen so he is used to being around pop stars. I am sure viewers will love them.”

Comedy duo Mathew and James are also busy on two other projects, their own sketch show ‘Horne and Corden’ and a script for their film ‘Vampire Lesbian Killers’.

Mathew and James, both 30, follow on from dysfunctional TV family the Osbournes - Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack - who presented the 2008 show.

The pair now join a long list of some of Britain’s most lauded TV presenters who have helmed the BRITs - Russell Brand in 2007, Cat Deeley in 2004, Davina McCall in 2003 and Ant and Dec in 2001.

The ceremony has also traditionally courted controversy with memorable incidents including, over 300 complaints over Russell Brand’s comments while hosting in 2007, Robbie Williams challenging Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher to a fight in 2000 and Chumbawamba throwing water over British politician John Prescott in 1998.

The show was always broadcast live until a shambolic performance from hosts glamour model Sam Fox and musician Mick Fleetwood in 1989. The live format only returned in 2007.

James has also confirmed he and co-star Ruth Jones will write a third series of the comedy show ‘Gavin and Stacey’ in which they rose to fame.

Mathew and James are no strangers to hosting glitzy bashes. They have previously presented the NME Awards and compered at a fundraiser for charity Focus12, earlier this year.

Janet Jackson Cuts Racy Segment From Detroit Show

Posted by audioman On October - 30 - 2008

Four years after flashing her breast at the Super Bowl, Janet Jackson dropped a saucy segment from her concert at a largely empty Detroit arena on Tuesday to comply with a Michigan state law that prohibits simulated sex acts in a public performing space.

Officials at the Palace of Auburn Hills approached Jackson’s camp with concerns about the three-song “Discipline” segment Tuesday afternoon. An arena spokesman said “we explained the law, asked her not to do it, she complied. We did not ask her to cut the song. That was her call.”

During the segment, Jackson usually pulls a male fan from the crowd, ties him down and “molests” him while her dancers mime various sexual acts, including masturbation. She’s done the same thing on previous tours, including performances at the Palace and other Michigan venues.

In a statement, Jackson’s manager Kenneth Crear said “Janet did not want to disappoint her Detroit-area fans again, so we adhered to Michigan’s state ordinance and trimmed the ‘Discipline’ segment of the show so it would not be canceled.”

Jackson’s show was a make-up date for an original September 27 show that was one of several postponed when she was sidelined with a bout of migraine-induced vertigo.

During her encore Jackson explained the omission to the 8,000 fans at the 21,000-seat venue, and apologized, adding, “We hope you enjoyed the show we gave you.” She made no mention of the postponement, however.

Jackson wraps up the North American leg of her Rock Withchu Tour on Saturday at New York’s Madison Square Garden. She is on tour to promote her album, “Discipline,” which topped the U.S. pop chart in March, but failed to arrest her sliding sales.

Beyonce Album - ‘I Am … Sasha Fierce’ Forthcoming Release

Posted by audioman On October - 30 - 2008

‘I Am … Sasha Fierce’ is the new album from international superstar Beyonce, released November 17th. One of 2008’s most eagerly waited album releases, Beyoncé’s new album is the artist’s first new studio collection since the Grammy-winning multi-platinum-selling B-Day from 2006.

“The new record is a double album and has two covers, like a magazine would have two covers,” Beyoncé revealed.

“One of the covers is named I Am and the second cover is named Sasha Fierce. That is my alter ego and now she has a last name. I have someone else that takes over when it’s time for me to work and when I’m on stage, this alter ego that I’ve created that kind of protects me and who I really am.

That’s why half the record, I Am is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the lights, and underneath all the exciting star drama. And Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I’m working and when I’m on the stage.”

Songs on Beyoncé’s I Am … include “If I Were A Boy”, “Halo”, “Disappear”, “Broken Hearted Girl,” “Ave Maria,” and “Satellites”. Beyoncé’s Sasha Fierce performances include “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” “Radio,” “Diva,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Video Phone.”

Oasis Star Backs Radio Pal Brand

Posted by audioman On October - 30 - 2008

Oasis star Noel Gallagher, who was a regular guest on Russell Brand’s BBC Radio 2 show, has defended the comedian in the row over prank phone calls.

“At worst it was a juvenile prank that wasn’t unfunny - but it’s hardly offensive,” Gallagher said.

He appeared almost weekly on the show, which Brand has quit after making lewd phone calls to actor Andrew Sachs.

“I feel bad for Russ, ’cause he really loved doing the show,” Gallagher told BBC Radio Ulster’s Across the Line.

“I loved being on it as well.”

Gallagher said he was “outraged” that columnists in the press had “dictated the tone and are telling people how to behave”.

“It’s so typical of the English in general - 10,000 people get outraged, but only five days after it has happened.

“You know what? There’s now a massive divide. Them and us,” he added.

People like Conservative leader David Cameron, who waded into the row, were on one side and should not get “involved in something that doesn’t concern him”, Gallagher said.

“Then there’s us.”

The BBC has now received more than 30,000 complaints about the incident, in which Brand and Jonathan Ross left obscene phone messages for Sachs about his 23-year-old granddaughter Georgina Baillie.

Brand has resigned from the BBC in the wake of the furore, while Ross has been suspended.

Brand mentioned Gallagher in his resignation statement.

“I’ve loved working for the BBC and am very proud of the shows myself, Matt Morgan, Nic Philps, Mr Gee and Noel Gallagher have made,” Brand said.

“I apologise to all of them for damaging their careers - except Noel, whose band are doing quite well.”

Meanwhile, other presenters gave their reactions at the National Television Awards on Wednesday.

Dermot O’Leary, who also hosts a Radio 2 show on Saturdays, said: “It’s really sad. He was brilliant on the radio.

“I loved listening to him. He’s a lovely lad, a nice colleague.

“It was a bit silly what he said, but then it was a pre-recorded show so there’s a debate to be had over whether the buck stops with him or not. But I’ll just miss him, that’s all.”

Big Brother host Davina McCall said she thought Brand - who worked alongside her on the reality TV show - and Ross were being “silly boys”.

“I think that they both got a bit carried away and I think that they both should have just promptly apologised, straight away and from the heart - and meant it.

“But that’s all it was, they were being silly boys.”

But X Factor judge and music manager Louis Walsh said the presenters needed to be punished.

“I’m glad they’ve been put in their place,” he said. “It’s about time. Jonathan Ross does and says what he wants and gets away with it.”

Pete Wentz ‘On Call Permanently’ for Baby’s Birth

Posted by AnnaB On October - 30 - 2008

Pete Wentz says wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is due to give birth any minute.

“She is very pregnant,” the Fall Out Boy bassist told Ryan Seacrest on Thursday. “I am on call permanently right now. She’s at the very end, and it could happen at any point.”

Wentz, who will attempt to break a world record for most radio interviews in 24 hours with band-mate Patrick Stump on Friday, adds that Simpson-Wentz, 24, is “excited” to become a mom.

“She (feels) hot all the time,” says Wentz, 29, joking that the couple’s thermostat is set to 34 degrees. “I think she wants to just be not pregnant anymore. … It’s a struggle to go up and down the stairs. Going out in public is insane.”

Another milestone the pair is looking forward to is naming their little one – but not until after the birth.

“I want to meet (the baby) first,” says Wentz, adding that he has a formula in place for when the time comes. “My friend said it – you’ve gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator, so he’ll get work either way.”
