Publicist Says Janet Jackson is Hospitalized

Posted by audioman On September - 30 - 2008

A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.

According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson’s condition.

A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.

Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour.

Oasis Announce New London Date

Posted by audioman On September - 30 - 2008

Oasis have announced a new London date which will see them collaborate with a full choir.

The band will play the Roundhouse in Camden on October 26 as part of the BBC Electric Proms, and will be joined onstage by the Crouch End Festival Chorus.

“We are doing the Electric Proms, and we’re doing it with the Crouch End Choir as well… there’s 50 odd of them…because some of the songs on the album have got a 50-piece choir on them,” explained Noel Gallagher. “So we’re going to do a night at the Proms with that lot, it should be good actually… Ennio Morricone uses them for his spaghetti western stuff in England, so I’m already looking forward to that because I’ve never played the Roundhouse and I’ve never done the Proms.”

Gallagher did make a cameo appearance at the event last year, joining The Coral onstage for one song.

Oasis tickets go on sale at 8:15am tomorrow (September 30) from bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

P.O.D. Release ‘When Angels & Serpents Dance’

Posted by audioman On September - 30 - 2008

P.O.D., the multi-plantinum, Grammy nominated rock band, have announced that they will be releasing a new album, When Angels & Serpents Dance on Monday 6th October. The album will be released on the bands own label, P.O.D. Records, which is distributed by Cooking Vinyl.

With guitarist Marcos Curiel returning to the fold after a 4 year absence, P.O.D are back to reclaim their place atop the rock scene with the line-up that took them to multiple platinum successes with 1999’s The Fundamental Elements of Southtown and 2001’s triple-platinum Satellite, which featured the hit singles “Youth of a Nation”, “Alive” and “Boom”.

The quartet’s renewed vigor is evident throughout When Angels and Serpents Dance, from the searing guitar line that kicks off the in your face hard rocker “Addicted” to the monumental, “End Of The World” complete with gospel choir, to the album’s most ferocious track, the savage “Like Old Times”, the first song written by the reunited incarnation of the quartet.

The band also display a softer side on the bluesy hard rock feel at the start of “Rain Everyday”, a song with clever vignettes in the bridges, the almost poppy chorus in the infectious “Shine With Me”, and on the poignant, politically charged ballad “Tell Me Why,” in which Sonny asks in the chorus, “Why must we fight, why must we kill in the name of what we think is right?”

Produced by Jay Baumgardner, the album features a number of guest appearances - legendary punk rock singer, Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies guests on the track “Kaliforn-Eye-A”, The Marley Sisters, who lend their vocal prowess to what Sonny calls “Our reggae track (I’ll Be Ready),” and Helmet’s Page Hamilton on “God Forbid,” which Sonny calls “probably our heaviest song.”

Full tracklisting as follows :

1. Addicted

2. Shine With Me

3. Condescending

4. It Can’t Rain Every Day

5. Kaliforn-Eye-A (feat Mike Muir)

6. I’ll Be Ready (feat. The Marley Girls)

8. This Ain’t No Ordinary Love Song

9. God Forbid (feat. Page Hamilton)

10. Roman Empire

11. When Angels And Serpents Dance

12. Tell Me Why

13. Rise Against

When Angels and Serpents Dance is the sound of a rejuvenated band, the P.O.D. you know and love doing it the only way they know how, passionate, aggressive, and with a message for our times. This is P.O.D. in 2008.

P.O.D. is … Sonny – vocals / Marcos – guitar / Traa – Bass / Wuv - drums

Adnan Ghalib Confirms Britney Spears Sex Tape

Posted by audioman On September - 30 - 2008

Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib has confirmed there is a sex tape of the pair.

The British paparazzo claims he and Britney – who reportedly wears nothing but a pink wig throughout the X-rated piece - made the footage while on holiday in Mexico, and admits he is considering selling the two-hour tape for “the right price”.

He is quoted by Heat magazine as saying: “There is such a tape, but I won’t discuss prices for hypothetical enquiries. Unless there is a locked-in deal, I will go no further.”

It was previously claimed the tape, which had never before been confirmed, features 20 minutes of full sex between Britney and Adnan after a lengthy foreplay session.

A source said: “The video starts with Britney undressing. She was wearing some cheap clothes. The sex wasn’t particularly kinky but Britney wears a pink wig throughout.

“At one point in the tape Adnan asks Britney to remove the pink wig but she refuses, saying, ‘Take what off? There’s nothing left to take off.’ ”

Britney wouldn’t be the only celebrity to be the victim of a sex tape scandal.

Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Kim Kardashian and Verne Troyer have all featured in raunchy videos.

Coldplay Announce New EP

Posted by audioman On September - 30 - 2008

Coldplay have announced details of a new four-track, digital-only single.

The band will release the ‘Lost!’ EP on November 10 worldwide. A video for the song, directed by Mat Whitecross, is available to view at Coldplay.com.

Speaking of the single, Coldplay drummer Will Champion said in a fan mailout: “That song had been around for a long time, without ever getting finished.

“I was starting to get into using a particular drum programming programme. I was messing around with that and I built this beat up from scratch.

“Then Chris overheard it and played ‘Lost!’ over the top of it.”

Coldplay had previously claimed they would release an EP of brand new material this winter. However, the song ‘Lost!’ appears on their recent album, ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All his Friends’.

The band have not announced details of the remaining three songs on the EP yet.

Do artists need more protection?

Posted by carly On September - 29 - 2008

duffy.jpgToday’s news that soul star Duffy is on the brink of a ‘nervous breakdown‘ has lead me to question if stars need more protection from today’s celeb obsessed culture. While the likes of Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears and Pete Doherty have battled their demons in full public glare, others have simply struggled to keep their heads above water as the never-ending promotions, press releases and interviews ensue.

It’s easy to blame these stars behaviour on addiction and bad parenting but as the number of troubled stars continues to rack up and somewhat wholesome stars such as Duffy talk out about the never-ending pressure, isn’t it time people begin to take notice? Shouldn’t these hugely powerful record labels be doing more to protect their protegee? And shouldn’t we stop with the celebrity obsession?

Britney’s devastating fall from grace was a result of drugs, divorce and well, the dreaded paparrazzi. If you had over 250 photographers snapping away on a daily basis as you pick up your grocerys, eat lunch or simply use a public bathroom (Britney was brutally attacked in the press for entering a public restroom without shoes), wouldn’t your sanity suffer a little? I know mine would!

With whole magazine sections dedicated to spotting stars cellulite and over-zealous fans eager to spill dirt on any divaish behaviour, is it any wonder that stars are walking around on egg shells, too scared to show a bit of human emotion/frustration? One only has to look at Posh Spice to see that worrying what people think of you is not healthy. She maybe groomed to perfection but she rarely smiles!

So with that in mind, I vow that we save our music stars. Let’s not be judgemental, lets put the focus back on the music and then hopefully the stars will soon crawl their way out of The Priory and back onto our airwaves. Amen!

Madonna Fined For Going Overtime

Posted by audioman On September - 29 - 2008

Madonna has copped a £135,000 fine ($AUD300,000) for going overtime at her London gig.

The September 11 show at Wembley Stadium was due to finish at 10:30pm but Madonna didn’t finish until 11:10pm on account that she started more than half an hour late.

Because of the amount of production involved in a Madonna show, it is not like she can just drop a few songs. Once the go button is flicked at the start of the show, Madonna’s job is to basically keep up with the scenery behind her.

The late start caused traffic chaos after the show with many fans stranded because they had missed public transport.

The concert was criticised for poor sound, although that has been denied by Madonna’s peeps.

90,000 people attended the Madonna concert at Wembley that evening. Many fans found that public transport had finished by the time they reached the station leaving them stranded.

The European leg of the Sticky and Sweet tour ended in Athens on Saturday (September 27).

The North American tour will start this Saturday night (October 4) at the Izod Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The South American leg will begin in Buenos Aires on December 3.

Bruce Springsteen to Perform During Halftime of Super Bowl

Posted by audioman On September - 29 - 2008

Another Super Bowl, another rock ‘n’ roll superstar at halftime. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in Tampa, Fla., the NFL and NBC announced Sunday night.

Continuing a run of major talent that has lately included the Rolling Stones, U2, Paul McCartney, Prince and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the biggest television event in the nation will showcase one of its most beloved rock ‘n’ roll artists. The Super Bowl will be played Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.

Last year’s halftime show was watched by more than 148 million viewers in the U.S., the NFL said in its release. It wasn’t always that way: For years, the game’s halftime show was made up of local and college marching bands and drill teams.

Chubby Checker in 1988 was the first popular musician to perform at halftime, and Michael Jackson upped the ante in 1993. His sister Janet provided the show’s most infamous moment with 2004’s “wardrobe malfunction” — and the show has stuck with straight ahead rock acts ever since.
