Wakestock 2008

Posted by carly On June - 30 - 2008

wake.JPGIf you’ve been hit with a spot of post-festival blues then fear not as you still have Wakestock 2008 to look forward to.

Whilst the first leg of the festival took place this weekend in Oxfordshire, the second leg will kick-off in Wales on the 4th July. Not only is wakestock home to some of the world’s finest wakeboarders – each putting on a display of breathtaking spins and flips – but an impressive array of artists, including Mark Ronson, Duffy, Sam Sparro, Estelle, The Streets and Pendulum also.

For anybody who isn’t sure (i.e. not hip enough) wakeboarding is a surface water sport which involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water behind a boat. It was developed through a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques and is particularly popular in the US.

Both professionals and amateurs compete in the Wakestock festival while wakeboarding and music fans kick-back and relax. Doesn’t sound too bad does it?

Wakestock 2008 will take place in Abersoch, North Wales from 4th – 6th July.

Kanye West issues Bonnaroo apology

Posted by carly On June - 26 - 2008

kanye_west1_300_400.jpgA week after his controversial Bonnaroo performance, Kanye West has spoken out against Bonnaroo event organisers and apologised to fans for his delayed performance.

This week Kanye took to his official blog to express his frustration with both festival organisers and previous act Pearl Jam. The singer blames Pearl Jam’s performance – which ran an hour longer than planned – and elaborate stage designs for the two hour delay.

Talking about his 4.24 a.m performance, Kanye says: “Bonnaroo should have released a statement in my defence but since they haven’t, let’s break down the walls on this Truman Show and let you know what really occurred!!!”

“I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, but this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life,” he adds.

As crew members struggled to assemble West’s elaborate stage, fans became impatient and crowds of people left. Those who stayed threw beer cans, toilet paper, and glow sticks onto the stage while chanting obscenities toward West.

“I’m sorry to everyone that I didn’t have the ability to give the performance I wanted to,” he says. “I’m sorry.”

Celebrities With OCD

Posted by nessy On June - 26 - 2008

justintimber1.jpgJustin Timberlake is the latest celebrity to admit to suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). A psychiatric anxiety disorder charecterised by obsessive thoughts, rituals or compulsions.

However Justin  isn’t the only celebrity to admit from suffering from OCD which he reveals affects many parts of his life. The singer / actor is in good company, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Jessica Alba and Cameron Diaz have all admitted to suffering from the disorder.

The 27 year old ‘Sexy Back’ singer also admits to having Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) which causes forgetfulness, distractibility and hyperactivity; “…I have OCD mixed with ADD. You try living with that. It’s complicated….” He also claims to be addicted to performing live, entertaining arenas filled with fans, but still “..gets butterflies..” which he finds exhilarating!!!

According to recent reports, his disorders can however, on ocassion, lead to arguments with his now live-in girlfriend Jessica Biel. Apparently the couple were reportedly arguing over the contents of their fridge earlier this month because they both were used to doing things their own way and having things in a specific place!!!

You can just imagine!! with Justin needing everything to be lined up in order and facing front, imagine how things must have been for him and Cameron when they were together!!!!

Dig Out Your Soul…..Oasis New Album Details.

Posted by nessy On June - 25 - 2008

oasis1.gifGood news for major label, Sony BMG as they seal a three album deal with one of Manchester’s finest exports, Oasis, just in time for them to announce the release date of their next and seventh studio album.

The band’s contract recently came to an end but the lads have decided to renew their association with multinational company Sony BMG and continue to release all their music through them alongside their own label, Big Brother Recordings.

The Gallagher brother’s have also announced details of their forthcoming studio album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ the first album to be released on their Big Brother Label, due for release October 6th which is to be preceded by the single ‘The Shock of Lightning’ on September 29th.

Speaking about the new album, Noel said: “…. I wanted to write music that had a groove; not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus and middle eight……”

“….I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving. Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you would maybe have to connect to - to feel….”

The album which has been penned by all four remaining members of Oasis was recorded in Abbey Road Studios, produced by Dave Sardy, who produced their 2005 album, ‘Don’t Believe The truth’ and was mixed in Los Angeles.

‘The Shock Of Lightning’ the bands first single in over two years, was written by Noel and features Liam on lead vocals. Talking about the track Noel stated “…If ‘The Shock Of Lightning’ sounds instant and compelling to you, it’s because it was written dead fast and recorded dead fast. ‘The Shock Of Lightning’ basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy and there’s a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best….”

Sounds good to me….. I’m really looking forward to hearing their new tracks, watch this space for more news. But for now wet your appetite with the video to one of their all time classic hits, ‘Live Forever’

The Saturdays - the New Girls Aloud!!!!

Posted by nessy On June - 24 - 2008

saturdays.jpgIn amidst rumours of Girls Aloud splitting to focus on solo careers, their record label, Polydor is busy promoting their new ‘girl band’ and potential successors, The Saturdays.

The girls have been busy supporting fellow label artists, ‘Girls Aloud’ on their ‘Tangled Up Tour 2008′ and getting themselves known. They are made up of five gorgeous girls a couple of whom you may recognise from their days as members of S Club 8 or even S Club Juniors, Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman.

Well the girls have grown up and along with fellow members, Mollie King, Una Healy and Vanessa White, are promoting their debut single, ‘If This Is Love’ which is set to be physically released on 28th July through Polydor Records, check out the video below and give us your thoughts……..

beatles.jpgFab news if you’re a huge fan of Guitar Heroes like me, Activision, the firm behind the video game is currently in a big-money battle with rivals MTV Games, the makers of Rockband,to produce a Beatles edition of their game in which the player can put themselves into the shoes of Lennon, McCartney or Harrison (and in the case of Rockband - Ringo) and rock out to their greatest hits.

Apple Corps, the firm who mange the Beatle’s affairs, have reportedly given the go ahead for the band’s songs to be licensed for use in computer games and apparently a decision as to who will get the deal could be made within the next couple of weeks.

Personally I’m eagerly awaiting the results….. I love the Beatles and can’t wait to have a go at playing some of their classic hits like ‘Drive My Car’ ‘Taxman’ and ‘Strawberry Fields’ …….Bring it on………

Other bands who have had a special edition of Guitar Heroes devoted to them are, Aerosmith who’s edition is due to be released later this month and Metallica which is due to be released in 2009.

Who would you like to see have their own special edition ?

Madonna Talking Divorce!!

Posted by nessy On June - 24 - 2008

madonna_guy.jpgRumours are rife at the moment that queen of pop Madonna is set to split from her husband of seven years, film director, Guy Ritchie.

According to recent reports, the celebrity couple have been having a very stormy time with their relationship and are now openly discussing divorce.

Although the pair tried to put on a show of ‘togetherness’ at Cannes Film Festival last month, they clearly appeared pained and distracted. They have also been spotted together less and less over the past few months choosing to attend important events on their own, adding fuel to the speculation of a split.

In a recent interview for an MTV documentary Madonna claimed she “….got married for all the wrong reasons…..My husband did not turn out to be everything I imagined him to be….I wanted to end everything....”

A friend of the couple has also been quoted as saying that the pair “…live like brother and sister rather than husband and wife, and thought it best to call it a day…”

Madonna is currently busy with her world tour until the end of November….. Lets hope that if they do split it will be amicable for the sake of their kids, Rocco, adopted David and Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter from a previous relationship.
