Mongrel are an indie supergroup formed in 2008 which sees John McClure frontman of Reverend And the Makers joining forces with fellow bandmate Joe Moskow on Synths, Arctic Monkeys drummer, Matt Helders, ex-Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell on guitar and London rapper Lowkey of Poisonous Poets. Mongrel, have recently completed recording their debut album, ‘Better Than Heavy’ which is due to be released by the end of 2008. As one would expect from McClure, the album theme is politically driven with the tone being greatly influenced by rap, dub and hip-hop. Mongrel are a refreshing change to the mainstream of music out at the moment with their uniquely mixed up style and sharp lyrics. The band released their debut 4 track EP through Wall Of Sound on November 5th.
